Carl's Song

(Sparkle Moore)

True story.  My Uncle Carl would visit often and share his words of wisdom.  He started life ambitious and excited with his prospects till the wheel of drudgery got the better of him.  His life story is included in this ditty as well as his famous philosophy.

I got a tale to tell,

Every word is true,

You listen close enough,

You may see them in you,

I got an Uncle Carl,

Who thought that his life would be,

A wonderful adventuresome

Great, great, great opportunity.

One day he met a girl,

He thought he'd love for life,

Surely he'd have sweet bliss,

With Annie as his wife.

But his dreams began to fade,

With the drudgery of each day,

And as he got the drift of things,

He soon began to grumble and fuss and say...

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.

Day after day, the same old way,

There's this and that and then,

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.

He dreamed the dreams and hoped the hopes,

Many of us do,

But he shrugged them off

With these few words,

After it was all through.

Well,  I hate to sound gross

or just morose,

But really, I must agree,

Most of us go round and round and round

Like a simple, simple, medley.

We just....

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.

Day after day, the same old way,

That's all it's it's ever been,

EAT, SHIT, SHAVE, GO TO WORK, COME HOME

AND START ALL OVER AGAIN.
